Well, since my last post 2014 has ended and I am still working on the
new album. I guess I've been busy with things in life besides
music, but at the end of the day I know that's just an excuse.
I did accomplish something musical!...I recorded an EP of my dad's
favorite hymns as a Christmas/ birthday gift. It was a great
exercise in music theory and composition, as most of them I had to
transpose to a different key and rework in my own acoustic style.
It was also great practice in recording at home with my new
audio/midi interface...I really learned a lot. You can hear the fruits
of my labor on my youtube
I have been slowly but surely writing songs for my next album.
I think it is better this way.
to my new website! I wish I would have done this years ago!
I'm still trying to decide it it's too much or how I can
I decided to make a website since I am in the process of
writing some new songs, and just like last time, I want to make sure I
do everything I can to make this album a success. One thing I
thought I could improve was having a real website, and I wanted to make
it myself. I read some books from the library about HTML and
CSS and took an online
course in web design, but ultimately I realized coding from scratch is
amount of work. Thus I discovered and downloaded Kompozer, a
WYSIWYG ("what you see is what you get") website builder that is a free
program similar to Dreamweaver.
Right now I've got three songs
completely finished, with several more in various stages of completion.
In the coming weeks I will be hashing those out and recording
rough drafts at home. Then I need to find a bass player and
guitarist, and also find a suitable local studio to record.
hope is to release the album sometime this fall.
